Crivitz boasts nearly 1,000 residents and is located on Highway 141 just 45 minutes north of Green Bay. Crivitz considers itself the “Gateway to the North.” Nearby are the beautiful Peshtigo River, Peshtigo River State Forest, Lake Noquebay (a large full recreational lake) and Tommy Thompson State Park. Crivitz is the hub of the area tourism industry. In Crivitz you will find all the services essential to making your visit to the Northwoods extra special. Major businesses include Witt’s Piggly Wiggly and Hardware, Pelkins Smokey Meat Market, two dollar stores, a strip mall featuring specialty shops, McDonald’s, The Crivitz Lodge, a number of restaurants, and two automobile dealerships, just to name a few. In addition, Crivitz has the Crivitz Community Center, a fitness center that features an indoor exercise pool, running track, full court gymnasium, exercise spaces and a climbing wall. Golf courses in the Crivitz area include De Smidt’s Golf Course and Country Club, Hunter’s Glen Golf Club and Beechwood Golf Course. Bigwoods Realty has an office in Crivitz, across from McDonald’s. The Crivitz Historical Society Museum is open May 22 through Labor Day, 12 noon-4 pm, Wednesday through Saturday. Free admission; donations accepted.
